The Wallace Foundation, a not of profit founded by DeWitt and Lila Wallace, is a place to support ideas that expand learning and create enrichment opportunities. This backdrop of ideas became the foundation for their new offices near Penn Station. The theme, knowledge is power is what CONANT ARCHITECTS wanted to express both visually and mentally.
Clean, crisp architectural lines intertwined with graphics are the concept behind this space. Consistent use of materials such as warm wood tones, deep blue carpeting and textiles combined with crisp white laminates tie the entire space together.
An oval shaped knowledge center strategically placed in the heart of the plan serves as a library, a café and a meeting place for both staff and visitors. This forms the heartbeat of the Foundation.
Graphics of art programs and quotes of notable interest are seen in the elevator lobby and through the glass door that lead to the knowledge center. The ability to frequently change out the graphics supports the new ideas that flow through the enrichment opportunities.
