When T-Mobile began planning the consolidation of several remote locations, the company knew that the challenges ahead needed to run as smoothly as their mobile telephone operations did. Aware of the problems that could occur, T-Mobile engaged CONANT ARCHITECTS in the early phase of the project.
With a lengthy site selection diminishing time and a stringent budget the team set about developing a plan for a single tenant occupancy under $50/s.f. The program included the 3,000 s.f. Network Operations Center (NOC), as well as office, dining and conferencing and training facilities.
The outcome was a 105,000 s.f., three story full building retrofit that functions as the Northeast Regional Headquarters and Command Center. Selective use of glass and stainless steel panels highlight the public areas, while the full technical requirements of the program were also satisfied within budget. Custom ceiling elements made of prefabricated components designed for the NOC and training rooms to provide lighting, fire protection, and acoustical dampening for the spaces.
