Taking on a project for a well known patron of Manhattan is thrilling enough, but to be able to design their private dining room was more exciting than imagined. The concept of food forms function was one CONANT ARCHITECTS wanted to portray.
The space is a flow of light, views and aromas. The mood of the gathering space is relaxed and informal. Open to the fabulous view, to form a semi enclosed conversation area. Lighting, both natural and artificial, was critically important to create an ambiance of drama and comfort.
Strong color creates impact as a contrast to the neutral backdrop of cream and beige. Materials are either very hard or very soft, to define areas and function. A custom designed light fixture becomes the centerpiece in the dining area.
